Debbie is an enthusiastic advocate of organic gardening. She began organic gardening with her grandfather in the 1970s. Later, while she chose a different career in the Creative Industries, from the early 1990s she spent lots of free time gardening, studying horticulture and garden design at Kingston Maurward in Dorchester and, ultimately, working with Michael in Dorset and nearby counties.

She is an experienced garden designer, ecological horticulturist; and also writes non-fiction.
